Clients
Every organisation in your world — prospect, active client, or past client — lives here as a Company. The Clients section is your per-company home base.
The Clients list
The list shows every Company with its relationship status, primary contact, last interaction date (with a Stale badge after 14 days), open deal value, active work, and at-risk count. Filter by tab — All / Leads / Active / Past — or use saved views and CSV export to slice the list your way. A CSV import wizard lets you bring in a whole book of companies and contacts at once.
The Company Hub
Clicking a company takes you to its Company Hub: a single page that answers "how's [Company]?" at a glance.
At the top you'll see a health header:
- Relationship status (Lead / Active / Past)
- Last contact date and a stale badge if it's been too long
- Open deal value
- Active projects and cycles, with a count of at-risk items
Below the header is the manager's read — What needs you — covering what's owed, what's slipping, what's next for this company. Then the live sections: Deals, Delivery items, Docs, and Contacts — with the Timeline underneath, where every note, system event, and decision on this company lands.
Relationship status
Every Company has a status that reflects where the relationship stands:
- Lead — a prospect with at least one open deal in an early stage
- Active — a paying client with an active project or retainer
- Past — a client whose engagement has closed
There's no separate "lead" record type. A lead is simply a Company with status Lead and a Deal in an early stage. Status updates automatically as deals progress.
Contacts
Contacts are people at a Company — the day-to-day marketing manager, the CMO who signs proposals, whoever you deal with.
You add and manage Contacts directly inside the Company Hub. One Contact per Company can be flagged as Primary Contact — they're the default recipient when you send a Document.
Fields on a Contact: name, email, role/title, and their full Interaction history. Custom fields you define in Settings → Custom Fields appear here too.
Interactions
Every time you communicate with a contact, dpaperwork can log it as an Interaction:
- Via Chat: paste or describe a conversation you had — dpaperwork extracts the key details and logs it automatically against the right Contact, Deal, or Company
- Via email: when you send an email from a Contact profile (using the Gmail integration), it's logged automatically
Interactions form the relationship history that the Monitor watches. If a deal hasn't had an Interaction in 14 days, you'll hear about it in your Inbox.
Timeline and decisions
The Company Hub's Timeline is where the running story of the relationship lives: auto-logged system events (deals won, documents sent, cycles closed), comments, and decisions your team records. Posting a Decision on the timeline marks it clearly, can assign an owner and due date, and feeds the Company Knowledge so dpaperwork remembers it going forward.
Adding a Company
Click New client or use Chat:
"Add Bright Agency as a new lead — contact is Sarah Chen, sarah@brightagency.com"
dpaperwork creates the Company, the Contact, and links them together.
