Today

Today is the first thing you see when you open the app — your list for today on the left, everything that needs your attention on the right. It replaced the old Home dashboard: instead of a wall of stat tiles you had to remember to check, Today is the page you already land on every morning, so notifications, check-ins, and approvals surface right there instead of a separate section.

It's a different page for the Founder than for team members — each sees the version that matters for their job, but both share the same left-hand focus list.

Your focus list

The left column is your list for today — a plain, ordered list of tasks and personal to-dos, with the top item shown large.

  • Add to today opens a search over your open tasks so you can pull one in
  • Auto-fill today pulls in anything overdue or due today that's assigned to you
  • Plan my day asks your PM to suggest what belongs on today's list (see Suggested for today, below)
  • Type into the quick-add box to jot a personal to-do — press #task first if you want it saved as a real Task instead
  • Click the circle to complete an item; drag to reorder; click Promote to task on a personal to-do to turn it into a Task
  • On mobile, swipe an item right to complete it, or long-press for a move-up / move-to-top menu

Each row shows its due date (click it to reschedule) and, when your PM placed it there, a small by PM tag with a "Why?" popover explaining the reasoning.

Keyboard shortcuts (press ? any time to see them): j/k move the selection, x or Enter completes it, c jumps to quick-add, t opens Add to today, e reschedules the selected item.

Suggested for today

Below the header, your PM can suggest tasks worth pulling into today — overdue work, tasks you've self-reported as blocked or slipping, or tasks with an open check-in. Each suggestion shows its reasoning; Accept or Dismiss individually, or Accept all / Dismiss all at once.

If a founder turns on Day planning (Settings → Next Actions), your PM places these automatically each morning instead of asking — capped at five a day, and one tap to undo. You can still opt your own day out from Personal Settings → Notifications.

Awaiting your approval

Above your focus list, an Awaiting your approval band collects any pending Proposal — an action your PM wants to take on a record — that needs your decision: what it wants to do, to which record, and why. Approve, Reject (with an optional one-line reason), or Edit the details before approving. A decided row stays visible with an Undo for a beat, so a mistap is never final.

Not every action needs this step — see Automation & Approvals for how dpaperwork decides what runs on its own versus what waits for you.

Needs attention

Below the header sits Needs attention — a collapsible band carrying every notification for you in this Workspace: Monitor signals, task assignments, mentions, and check-ins. It's the same feed the Inbox archive shows, just live on the page you already have open.

  • The Morning Brief — your daily digest of the last 24 hours' signals — pins to the top as an expandable card
  • A Check-in row (an overdue task the Monitor asked you about) expands into Done / Blocked / Need more time buttons, so you can answer it without leaving the page
  • Unread rows show first (up to 8, with "Show more"); read ones collapse behind "Show earlier"
  • See all links to the full Inbox — the permanent archive with pagination and search, still reachable any time even though it's no longer in the sidebar

The two most time-critical notification types — a real-time alert and a Playbook step waiting on your approval — jump the queue entirely and render as an interrupt strip above the greeting, with Approve/Reject or Review right there.

For the Founder

The right-hand rail carries team-wide oversight, open by default:

  • Team workload — each person's weekly hours with a progress bar, flagging anyone Over their threshold
  • At risk — at-risk projects and cycles grouped by client, then at-risk tasks, so a founder who assigns everything out still sees what needs a look
  • Pending check-ins — the open check-ins, so you can nudge whoever hasn't answered
  • Budget / burn — per-deal spend against budget, with Over and Watch badges
  • Next Actions — a summary of anything your PM auto-executed on your behalf recently

Below that, the same Overdue and Upcoming sections every user gets.

For team members

Team members get a lighter rail focused on their own plate:

  • My at-risk tasks — your own overdue or blocked work
  • My check-ins — pending check-ins asked of you
  • My key results — your Objectives' Key Results with progress, flagging any review that's overdue

Where the numbers come from

Today doesn't keep its own data — every card is computed live from your Workspace, so fixing something in Delivery or the Pipeline is reflected here immediately. Workload sums estimated hours on tasks due this week; at-risk uses the same overdue logic as the Delivery board and the Monitor; budget comes from budget/burn tracking on Deals; check-ins come from the Monitor's check-in mechanism.
