Cadence

Cadence runs your team's weekly rhythm. It has three tabs: Meeting, Scorecard and Issues. Opening Cadence takes you to Meeting.

Meeting

Set it up once

CadenceMeetingEdit setup

Pick the weekday, start time, attendees (up to 8) and a facilitator. Only the Founder can change the setup.

The facilitator must be one of the attendees. The setup warns you if an attendee can't see Scorecard numbers.

You don't write the agenda

The agenda builds itself from your live data and keeps updating until the meeting closes. It only shows sections with something to discuss:

  • Scorecard: the last four weeks, off-track numbers first. Only people allowed to see Scorecard numbers see this.
  • Key Results that are at risk, off track, or overdue for review
  • Deals that are stale or past their close date
  • Projects with overdue Tasks
  • Issues, in rank order
  • Last week's to-dos: those the owner marked done, and those an attendee has confirmed

If everything is on track, the agenda says there is nothing to discuss. That is the meeting going well, not a bug.

During the meeting

Any attendee can add items, before Start too, so people can add topics during the week. There are three kinds:

  • Decision: saved to the Company Brain, so Chat and Skills follow it from now on
  • To-do: creates a real Task in a Project, with an optional owner and due date
  • Note: stays on the meeting

You can edit or delete any item until the meeting closes. Changing a Decision replaces the old wording in the Brain; deleting it retires it. Renaming a to-do renames its Task; deleting it moves the Task to Trash.

Close

Only the facilitator can close. Closing:

  • freezes the agenda as a record of the meeting
  • sends each attendee a recap
  • creates next week's meeting

Past meetings are listed on the Meeting tab. Click one to see what was on the agenda and what was decided.

Scorecard

5 to 15 weekly numbers that tell you if the business is healthy. Each has an owner, a target, and whether higher or lower is better. The grid shows the last 13 weeks.

A number can be entered by hand or calculated from your records: new Deals, proposals sent, Deals won, overdue Tasks, cash collected, amount overdue, invoices sent. Calculated numbers fill in on their own.

The day before the meeting, owners who haven't entered this week's number get a reminder. Owners can enter this week's value; people who manage Cadence can fix any of the last 13 weeks.

Issues

Issues are the problems worth a conversation. Any member can raise one and link it to a Company, Deal, Project or Scorecard number. A blocked Task can also raise one.

People who manage Cadence rank the list (no priority labels: the top one goes first), then either:

  • Solve it: record what you decided, create or link Tasks, and the decision is saved to the Brain
  • Drop it, with an optional reason

Getting the best out of Cadence

  • Keep the Scorecard small. Start with 5 numbers, each with a named owner. Prefer calculated numbers: they can't be forgotten.
  • Raise Issues during the week, not in the meeting. The meeting is for solving, in rank order.
  • Write Decisions as rules: "We don't discount retainers below ₹50,000/month", not "talked about pricing". Chat follows them later.
  • Every to-do gets an owner and a date. Next week's agenda checks them.
  • Ask Chat: "Show this week's Scorecard", "What's on Monday's agenda?", "Raise an issue about late design handoffs".
